album review: Elora Jade – Fearless

As an upcoming artist, looking to build credibility in the music industry, Elora Jade and her intentions to capture and hypnotize the ears of many is evident on Fearless from the onset.  “Successful” stems from the mind of a young individual, lost in the world and constantly in search of true purpose.  Accompanied by fellow newcomer Jaleel Young, the two ponder and match wits in search of a way to adapt their artistic abilities into financial gains.

X-Rated” opts for a moment of intimacy, simultaneously slowing the album’s place for a more intimate atmosphere.  Jade’s attention to detail shines in her songwriting as she lyrically paints a night of passion, more evidence of the power words possess.  Closing the project is the album’s title track, which sheds another piece of skin, rendering her vulnerable and naked.

She discloses the anxieties that plagued her from childhood and subsequent efforts to go beyond then and emerge victorious.  The true mark of an artist is giving pieces of themselves to their audience, allowing both parties to identify with each other.  Fearless is eerily structured similarly to Dondria’s sleeper debut, Dondria Vs. Phattfat.  Each record is a clear, well thought out expression of Jade’s point of view.  There is also a diet of styles established throughout, from catchy radio tunes to the type of album stalwarts that build careers.
