Music is what feelings sound like so it’s somewhat of a wonder that it didn’t become such an integral part of my life until my high school years, the time where I began to figure out who I was and who I wanted to be. As I’ve grown, my love of music has grown and has expanded to a wider range of artists, especially those with a penchant for detailed imagery and storytelling. With Blu’s Below The Heavens LP arriving at such a critical juncture in my life, I connected even more so with Blu’s journey to becoming a man because I could relate, just as those youngster could relate to Nas’ 1994 in depth look at the projects, Illmatic. Musicians give their opinions, their truths, their very soul through their music, whereas I give mine through my writing.
